Verdant Visions Horticultural Planning offers “full-service” design. The client does not have to do any measuring, take photos or take notes at the design visit. That is my job as the designer. I will record the correct building and property measurements and take the most useful reference photos in order to produce an accurate design plan.
The garden design plan service includes the following:
- Initial visit at the property with the client
- A site evaluation including reference photos, measurements, and environmental factors.
- A comprehensive garden design plan that graphically shows “what plants go where” (a “blueprint” for planting your garden). A plant list on the plan sheet details plant names (common and botanical), quantities, recommended size, and retail estimate for cost of the plant material.
- A written “how to” report that gives basic instructions on how to follow the plan, place the plants, proper planting techniques and pertinent maintenance tips to keep your garden looking good.
- A design review visit. I will sit down with you and review the design, explain how the design plan works and show you photos of the plants used in your design.
Pricing for Garden Design Plans are based on the total square footage of the area(s) to be designed, plus desired complexity of the design. Please note that any additional design revisions (that are not due to designer error) or additional meetings will incur additional charges on top of the original design plan price.
The concept and practice of “edible” landscapes has become more popular in recent times. Food safety issues, eating more locally grown produce, and healthier eating in general has put edible landscaping in more peoples’ plans for their gardens. Plants that produce food can be incorporated into the general garden easier than one may think. Many fruit bearing trees and shrubs, and even herbs and vegetable plants, are quite ornamental. Even a garden that is exclusively vegetables and herbs can be planned and planted in a way that is quite attractive.
