Verdant Visions Horticultural Planning is a garden consultation and design business whose goal is to provide personalized horticultural advice and garden design plans specifically tailored to a clients “horticultural visions”.

At Verdant Visions Horticultural Planning, I am grounded in my mission to provide the seeds of knowledge to achieve your vision. The company came into being in August 2000. I had always wanted to have my own business, doing what I loved for a living. I also wanted to provide a service that many people wanted, but sometimes had a difficult time finding. During my years working in the green industry, I noticed that many times a customer wanted either written professional advice concerning their garden plantings, or desired a garden design plan that they themselves could install according to their time and budget needs. However, many companies offered a landscape design service only if the client would also have the company install the landscape. Or, if a company offered just the design plan without an installation, per the client's request, the design plan would often just be a general sketch without many specifics on plant material.

Unfortunately, the vast majority of people do not have the budget to allow for a landscape company to do the installation, and they don't mind doing the planting over a period of time to save money. Some people actually enjoy doing the planting themselves; they just want a professional design plan that is easy for them to follow. With this observation in mind, I began planning a business that would address this need. My mission was to provide professional, written advice and detailed, creative garden design plans. I wanted to teach my clients to view garden design as a dynamic process. I wanted to guide my clients in the creative process, showing them the best way to achieve their vision in a way that is beneficial to both themselves and our environment.

As the garden design professional at Verdant Visions Horticultural Planning, I aim to make the garden design experience holistic, combing the practical with the aesthetic. The client is encouraged to think outside the standard concept of landscaping he or she is accustomed to. Instead of thinking in terms of “landscape”, think in terms of “garden”.
